DealsPlug is operated by Linnas Labs LLC ("DealsPlug", "we", "us"). This policy explains what information the DealsPlug app and website collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- You can browse deals without an account. We never ask for your name or email just to browse.
- Your saved deals, reminders, favorite restaurants, birthday and location settings stay on your device. If you turn on deal alerts, we keep only what we need to send them.
- We don't sell your information, show third-party ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
- Business owners who create an account give us their contact and business details so we can review and publish their deals.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- Business owners can delete their account in the app at any time.
Information we collect
If you browse deals
Location. If you allow it, the app uses your device's location to show deals near you and how far away they are. This happens on your device, and we don't send your exact location to DealsPlug's servers (see Notifications and Deal activity counts below for the rough area we do use). To show your city name, the app sends your approximate coordinates to a mapping service (Apple or Google on phones, OpenStreetMap on the web). If you type a city or neighborhood, only the text you type is sent (never your phone's location) to Photon, a service run by komoot, to suggest matching places. ZIP codes, and places Photon can't find, are looked up by your phone's mapping service (Apple or Google). You can turn off location in your device settings and choose a location manually instead.
Map. When you open the map, the map images are loaded from OpenFreeMap, which builds them from OpenStreetMap data. Like any image request, OpenFreeMap receives the technical information described under "Information collected automatically" below, along with the part of the map you're looking at. Your exact location is never sent to it, but because the map opens around your location when you've set one, the map images it loads show your general area.
Information saved on your device. Your saved deals, deal reminders, favorite restaurants, the deals you've already seen, the deals you opened lately (Recently viewed), your recent searches, your search radius, and your birthday (if you add it to see birthday freebies) are stored only on your device. They are not sent to us (except the restaurants you follow, if you turn on deal alerts), and they are removed when you delete the app.
Reports. If you report a problem with a deal, we receive which deal it was, the reason you pick and any note you write. Reports aren't linked to your name or an account, and we use them only to review and fix listings.
Notifications. Deal reminders are scheduled on your device. If you turn on deal alerts, they are delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging, a Google service. To send them, we store on our server a push token for your copy of the app (a random code that lets us send alerts to it, not your name or phone number), the restaurants you follow, your alert settings, and a rough area: your location rounded on your phone to about 7 miles and your US state, so we can tell you about deals nearby and send the Sunday summary of deals opening that week. None of this is linked to your name or an account. When you turn deal alerts off, we delete it. If you delete the app, the push token stops working, and we delete it the next time an alert to it can't be delivered.
If you have a business account
- Account details: your email address and password. Your password is stored in hashed form by our authentication provider, and we can't see it.
- Business details: business name, contact name, email, phone number, category, logo, and your locations (names and addresses).
- Deal submissions: the deal details you submit, including locations, website, images, dates and notes.
- Photos: deal photos and a logo you upload are stored in DealsPlug's storage (run by Supabase) and shown publicly with your deals in the app and on our website.
- Address suggestions: when you type an address, the text is sent to Photon (a service run by komoot) to suggest matching addresses. If you type an address without picking a suggestion, your phone's mapping service (Apple or Google) looks it up so we can place it on the map.
- Featured placements: the location and area you choose, so we can show the placement to people nearby. While a placement is active, your business name, the featured deal and its target area are visible in the app.
- Listing claims: if you ask to claim a restaurant's listing, the restaurant's name and the note you write, such as your role and how we can check the restaurant is yours (for example an email address or website). Only you and DealsPlug can see it. We use it only to review your request and email you the answer.
- Payments: Stripe processes all payments and collects your payment details directly. We keep a record of what you bought, the amount, the date and its status, along with the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers linked to your account.
Information collected automatically
When the app loads deals, images, logos and fonts, the servers that provide them receive standard technical information such as your IP address, device type and the time of the request. This includes our hosting provider and the services that deliver images, logos and fonts (listed below).
Crash reports. If the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a crash report to DealsPlug's own database (run by Supabase, our hosting provider) so we can fix the problem. A report contains the error, where in the app it happened, the app version and whether the phone is an iPhone or Android phone. It doesn't include your name, email, account, location or a device identifier, and we don't store your IP address with it.
Deal activity counts. To show restaurants how their deals are doing, and to spot deals that no longer work, the app counts how many times each deal is shown, opened, saved, shared and tapped through to the restaurant, how many times it is shown and tapped in the Featured spot, and whether a deal worked when you answer "Did it work?" after using it. Only the deal and what happened are sent, added up per day. We don't record who did it: no name, account, device identifier or IP address is stored with these counts.
Deal views by area. If you've set a location, the app also sends a rough area with those counts: your location rounded on your phone to a square about 7 miles across. We keep only the total number of deal views per square per day, with nothing that identifies you. Restaurants see the total for their area (for example, "2,140 deal views near Chicago in the last 30 days"), and only once it reaches 500.
We don't use advertising tools, and we don't use any third-party analytics service in the app.
How we use information
- To show deals, including deals near you.
- To run business accounts: reviewing submissions, publishing approved deals, and providing Pro Partner features and Featured placements.
- To process payments and manage subscriptions.
- To contact business owners about their account, submissions and payments, for example password resets and review outcomes.
- To keep DealsPlug secure and to prevent fraud and abuse.
- To meet legal obligations such as tax and accounting records.
We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone.
How information is shared
We share information only as needed to run DealsPlug:
- Service providers that operate parts of DealsPlug for us: Supabase (database, accounts and hosting); Stripe (payments, see the Stripe Privacy Policy); Apple and Google (city names, ZIP code and place lookups, and business address lookups on phones); OpenStreetMap (city names on the web); Photon by komoot (address suggestions for business owners, and place suggestions when you type a city); Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (deal alerts); OpenFreeMap (map images, built from OpenStreetMap data); and the services that deliver deal images, brand logos and fonts, including images.weserv.nl, Unsplash and Google.
- Public deal listings: approved deals, including the business name, deal details, photos, logo and locations, are shown publicly in the app. The contact name, email and phone number you give us are never published.
- When you leave the app: if you open a restaurant's app or website, get directions in a maps app, or share a deal, that service's own privacy policy applies.
- Legal and safety reasons: if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and others and to prevent fraud.
- Business transfers: if Linnas Labs LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that deal, and this policy will continue to apply to it.
How long we keep information
- On your device: until you remove it or delete the app.
- Business accounts and submissions: while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your account, business details, submissions and listing claims.
- Payment records: kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require (typically up to seven years), and no longer linked to your account after you delete it.
- Deal alerts: until you turn them off in the app, or until an alert can't be delivered because the app was deleted.
- Published deals: may stay visible as public listings after an account is deleted, no longer linked to that account. Contact us if you want them removed.
- Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a limited time for security and troubleshooting.
Your choices and rights
- Location: turn it off in your device settings. You can still browse by choosing a location manually.
- Notifications: turn them off in the app under Settings & help (the gear on the Saved tab), or in your device settings. Turning deal alerts off in the app also deletes your push token and alert settings from our server.
- Data on your device: remove saved items in the app, or delete the app to remove everything.
- Delete your business account: open the Business Dashboard, tap the menu (three dots), then Delete account. This cancels an active Pro Partner subscription, deletes your account and submissions, and stops your Featured placements.
- Access or correct your information: contact us and we'll help.
Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have the right to know what personal information we have about you, to access, correct or delete it, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. We don't sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, contact us, and we'll verify it before we act on it.
Children
DealsPlug is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. Business accounts are for adults acting on behalf of a business. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
We protect information with encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls that keep each business's data private to that business, and payment processing by Stripe, which is certified to the PCI DSS security standard. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information.
Where information is processed
DealsPlug is operated from the United States, and information is processed and stored in the United States.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date. If a change is significant, we'll also let business account holders know by email or in the app.
